DERWENT VALLEY HERITAGE CYCLE SPORTIVE.

In JULY 2022 we bring you an OFF-ROAD CYCLE SPORTIVE for all fitness levels. There will be a 5 mile FAMILY RIDE for any Children over 5 (parents ride for free) a 60km RIDE and a 100km RIDE for over 15’s. Riders will start from BLAYDON RUGBY CLUB anytime between 7.30-9.30am where there will be FREE PARKING & TOILETS and the START/FINISH EVENT VILLAGE. You will make your way up the Derwent Walk to Consett where Riders will join the Derwent Heritage Trail. At Lydgetts junction you will cross Hownsgill Viaduct and join the Waskerley way up to Hawksburn Head Picnic Area overlooking Smiddy Shaw Reservoir. There will be a feed station here before riders head back to BLAYDON on the 60km Ride. 100km riders will turn right back at Lydgetts Junction and head down to Durham via Lanchester. Riders will turn at the 2nd feed station at Broompark Picnic Area just South of Neville’s Cross. You will then head back up the Lanchester Valley Walk and back up to Consett before the fast drop back down the Derwent Valley to Rowlands Gill and then BLAYDON Rugby Club. All Riders will get an Event Medal, snack and a drink at the finish. There will also be well stocked feed stations, first aid, a sweep vehicle & mechanic and free event photography. There will also be an Event top to order on entry at an extra cost.
