We are delighted to announce that we are returning for our Annual Duathlon Event at the beautiful Derwent Reservoir in County Durham on Sunday 11th May 2025.

The event is for all fitness levels, any type of push bike can be used but a cycling hat must be worn. The sprint (short) event is ideal for first timers or novice athletes.

Derwent Reservoir

This outstanding Reservoir is owned by Northumbrian Water and sits on the border of Durham & Northumberland and the Triathlon Event will take place from the south side of the Reservoir.

The running is on tarmac and trail paths around the waterside and the cycling is on the quiet open roads around the Reservoir towards Edmundbyers, Blanchland & Slaley.

Sprint (Short) Duathlon

Run - 5k / Cycle - 20k / Run - 2.5k

Standard Duathlon

Run - 10k / Cycle - 40k / Run - 5k

Both distances can be completed by yourself or as a relay team with your friends.

Transition

There will be a secure transition area for triathletes. Your Race Number & Bike Number correspond with your Racking Number in Transition. Competitors can bring a small bag/box into transition with their belongings. Only competitors will be allowed in the secure transition area and you must show your number to enter. Your bike number must be on your bike before you enter transition and have your helmet visible.

After the race your Bib Number and your Bike number will be checked before you are allowed to leave transition so please keep them on. 

Age Restriction

Due to the event being on open roads, there is a minimum age restriction of 17.

Timing

There will be Live Chip-Timing through Timing Up North.

The Finish

All finishers will get an Event Medal, Wild Deer Merchandise, a snack and a drink.

There is also the option to buy an event T-shirt for £12.00 when you sign up.
