Hadrian’s Wall Half Marathon – 2026 (6th Year!) 

We are delighted to bring you the 6th edition of the Hadrian’s Wall Half Marathon in 2026! This testing trail event takes you through some of the UK’s most historic and scenic landscapes. In 2026, the walk will be on Saturday 10th October and the run will be on Sunday 11th October.

Distance

Half Marathon – 13.5 miles

  • Open to walkers (Saturday 10th October) and Runners (Sunday 11th October)

Route

Hadrian's Wall Half Marathon - Click here

The route begins at the World Heritage site of Housesteads Roman Fort on the Military Road. Following the iconic Hadrian’s Wall Trail Path for 6 miles, runners then descend to Newbrough and pass through woodland to reach the Tyne Riverside Trail Path. The final 5 miles are flat as the route heads into Hexham, finishing in Tyne Green Country Park.

Shuttle Bus

This is an A–B event.

  • Runners must book the shuttle bus to the start, or arrange their own drop-off at Housesteads.

Bag Drop

  • Bag drop available at registration
  • All bags will be transported to the finish

Cani-cross Friendly

  • One well-controlled dog per person allowed
  • Dogs must remain on a lead at all times

Start Times

  • Staggered starts from 9.00am – 11.00am
  • Participants set off in groups of 75–100 to protect the historic site and avoid congestion
  • Start times allocated based on estimated finishing time

To run/walk with a friend, ensure you enter the same estimated finish time.

This unique event combines the challenge of walking the beauty of Hadrian’s Wall, offering unforgettable views, Roman history, and a special finish in the heart of Hexham.

Heel and Toe Children's Charity

Hadrian's Wall Half Marathon 2026 will be supporting Heel and Toe Children's Charity and you can make a donation when you sign up.  

Heel & Toe Children’s Charity is a local organisation dedicated to providing essential therapy and support for children with physical disabilities and complex needs. Unlike many services, they receive no government funding and rely entirely on the generosity of the community to provide life-changing therapies to children across the North East.
